Booster Meeting Notes - 8/7/2025

HAMPTON WRESTLING ASSOCIATION

BOOSTER MEETING MINUTES – AUGUST 7, 2025

(Called to Order at 7:06pm – Adjourned at 8:20pm)

COACHES’ REPORTS:

VARSITY (COACH ENDRES):

• Summer workouts had good attendance, we had alumni show up at a lot of them to help out.  There were 8-10 wrestlers on light days and 20-25 on heavy days.

• Practice mats are being fully replaced by Resalite, should show up mid-August which will allow for on time practices starting in November.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (COACH BURSICK):

• Still waiting for the schedule to be completed.  Tournaments are not yet solidified - need to wait for the schedule to be completed first. 

• Working on a design for new singlets.  We’ll need around 40.  It is not our turn in the rotation for new uniforms so the boosters will fund the new ones.  We will add a singlet deposit to registration.

YOUTH (YOUTH DIRECTOR WES METCALF):

• Coaching staff changes.  Chris has been promoted to Girls Head Coach.

  • Al Murray - Lead Coach

  • Ethan Headlee & Kenny Downing - Head Coaches for Open/Novice

• Need to contact Stacey Martin for match night dates & submit FUA for practices

• Will need to order singlets, let Gretchen know how many of each size

• Looking at team tournaments

• Would like to do a scrimmage of Blue vs Gold, Hampton only, intersquad scrimmage

• Alpha workouts over the summer went well.  Had 16 kids sign up, average 6 kids per practice.  Profited around $180 on the program.

GIRLS’ CLUB (COACH RUGGERI):

• We aren’t sure what the numbers will look like this year.  Chris is trying to recruit and is going to work with coaches from fall and spring sports.

• Would like to do try it nights on 9/8 and 9/12 right after school

• Brought up the idea of promoting girls wrestling with pink shirts at Tailgate

• Still needs to figure out singlets and practice schedules.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

• Accounting software is up to date

• $9,423.60 in Checking Account Balance

• $6,410 in Scholarship Account Balance

• $710 in Venmo Account Balance

EBMT:

• 15U - No varsity allowed

• Take away hard start time for 2^nd session

• Same trophies as last year

• Bump registration to $40

• Gretchen is working with a t-shirt vendor for the tournament.  We get 10% of sales.

FUNDRAISING:

• Tailgate - Arm wrestling - need table & prizes

• Stromboli - extend the dates

• Golf outing - Kenny has volunteered to spearhead and will look into what is needed.

  
  

OTHER DISCUSSION ITEMS:

• Singlets - HS design is ready, Joe is working on MS.  We can combine the order even though the design is different for a discount

• Need to add Joe & Chris to Athletics Ocean account, Nick needs the card number

• Nail down warm ups at next meeting (September)

• 9/13 Hampton vs Deer Lakes HJFA.  Set up tent to promote registration

• Set up a table at the back to school nights to promote registration

• Registration

  • Discount through Tailgate (10/5)

  • Drop the HJFA discount

  • Add a drop down selection on the Youth Registration form of what they would like to get out of the season.  Wes to send Gretchen the options.

• Next Board meeting we need to vote for board officers
